This Privacy Policy explains how [Lumina — Legal Entity Name] ("Lumina," "we," "us") handles information in connection with the Lumina app and website (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Who this policy covers
Lumina is set up and managed by a parent or guardian for use by their child. This policy covers information relating to both the managing adult and the child whose device is set up with Lumina.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Setup and profile details — such as a child's first name or nickname and the answers you give during onboarding (for example, age range, goals, and challenges) that we use to personalize prayers and the experience.
- Support messages — if you email us, we receive your message and contact details.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and diagnostics — anonymous or pseudonymous analytics about how the app is used (for example, screens viewed, features used, prayers completed, and crash/diagnostic data) so we can improve the Service.
- Device information — such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and a randomly generated app instance identifier.
- Pairing identifiers — to connect a parent device and a child device, we use anonymous authentication and generate random pairing codes and identifiers. We do not require a name or email to create an account.
Purchase information
- Subscription status — when you subscribe, our payments partner (RevenueCat) and Apple provide us with your subscription and entitlement status and a transaction identifier. We do not receive or store your credit-card or payment details — those are handled by Apple.
Marketing measurement
- Install attribution — we may use Apple and Google measurement tools to understand, in aggregate, how people discover Lumina. This is used for measurement, not for tracking children across other companies' apps.
3. Screen Time and Family Controls data
Lumina uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to pause selected apps until a prayer is completed. The specific apps and categories you choose to manage are represented by Apple as opaque, privacy-preserving tokens. This selection stays on your device (and in your private iCloud/app group storage); Apple's design means we cannot see the actual names of the apps your child uses. We do not collect your child's browsing history or the content of their activity.
4. How we use information
- To provide and personalize the Service (guided prayers, progress, rewards, pairing).
- To operate subscriptions and confirm entitlements.
- To improve the Service, fix bugs, and understand aggregate usage.
- To respond to support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the Service.
Where required by law (for example, in the EEA/UK), we rely on your consent, the performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:
- Apple — app distribution, in-app purchases, and Screen Time frameworks.
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication and cloud database used for device pairing and syncing, plus app analytics and measurement.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement verification.
- TelemetryDeck — privacy-focused, aggregate product analytics.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or in connection with a merger or acquisition, in which case we will notify you as required.
6. Children's privacy
Lumina is intended to be configured by a parent or guardian, who provides consent for their child's use. We collect only the minimal information needed to run the child's experience (such as a first name and onboarding preferences), we do not require children to create accounts with personal contact details, and we do not serve behavioral advertising to children or use children's data to track them across other apps. If you believe we have collected information from a child without appropriate parental consent, contact us at privacy@luminaprayer.com and we will delete it.
7. Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Pairing and profile data is retained while your family uses Lumina; you can ask us to delete it (see Section 9). Aggregate analytics that cannot identify you may be retained longer.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your family's data and to limit what we collect in the first place.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email privacy@luminaprayer.com. You can also delete profile and pairing data from within the app and manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. International data transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
